MLCI Blood Donation 2023: Precious Blood Helps Others
PT Mitsui Leasing Capital Indonesia (MLCI) has successfully held a blood donation event on Monday, 9 October 2023. This event was held in Sakura Meeting Room – Mitsui Leasing, Floor T of Plaza Bank Index Building. The blood donation event was not limited only for MLCI employees, but also opened for the general public such as employees of other companies, building management, and people from around the location. This blood donation was met with positive reviews from every involved parties.
Blood is a vital component within the sustainability of body function. The red coloured liquid stores oxygen, hormones, and other important substances to be transported around body organs – it also carries the products of metabolism from body cells. Other than that, blood protects the body from bacteria or virus which could cause health problems. There are 4 classification of human blood type: A, B, AB, and O.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) standard, as quoted from Voice of Asia (voanews.com), the minimum of blood supply needed by every country is at least 2% out of its total population. For a country with big number of population like Indonesia, the demand for blood supply is also very high. This meant that the execution of blood donation events are very supported. Not only because it provides blood donation for those in need, but it is also proven to be beneficial for the donors’ health.
Blood donation activity is an annual activity in Mitsui Leasing up until 2019. The blood donation held in MLCI this time was the first one done after the pandemic is over.
In collaboration with Central Jakarta’s Indonesia Red Cross Society, the blood donation process in MLCI’s 2023 Blood Donation event was very successful. There were 118 participants in attendance to donate their blood. Some of them were rejected due to not meeting certain condition requirements such as their haemoglobin count, blood tension measurement, and other notable situations. Despite that, from the number of attendances, 94 people were accepted to donate their blood. This number is the highest record number of donors throughout every blood donation activity ever held by MLCI.

“I donate my blood often. It is healthy for myself and helpful for others. This is one thing I can do as a social being: I help others.” Said Mr. Leonardo Jhones, one of the donors in MLCI 2023 Blood Donation event.
