Mitsui Leasing Acquired ISO 27001:2013-Prioritizing Information Security and Public Trust

Jakarta - Information Security is one of the hottest issues amongst the public and institution users of digital network. According to the Ministry of Information and Communication, there has been 35 cases of data breech that happened to Companies and Government institutions in Indonesia during the January – June of 2023 period. Though, having a good information security may decide the public’s trust on certain Institutions.

For that, PT Mitsui Leasing Capital Indonesia supports and implements the standard ISO 27001. ISO 27001 is an internationally acknowledge standard on regulating information security management system. The purpose of this standard is to protect and maintain information security, including the aspects of confidentiality, integrity, and information availability.

The implementation of ISO 27001 has also been regulated in the Bill of Act on Electronic Information and Transaction, also in Minister of Information & Communication Regulation No. 4 of 2006. The standard made in 2013 was prepared to be relevant and adaptable to the latest increasing threats on technology security.

PT Mitsui Leasing Capital Indonesia acquired ISO 27001:2013 certification on 13 June 2023. To acquire it, the Company must fulfill terms made by CBQA Global Indonesia, a certification institution for national and international companies. Some of the terms include: an obligation to form a special unit to manage Information Security Management System (SMKI), implement discipline in administration and filing of Company SOP documents, also other technical documentation and data protection. It is important for the Company to implement this standard, especially because most information gotten from Department of Population and Civil Registration contains personal information.

“The certificate is valid until 2026, but it has to be evaluated every year. So the standard must be maintained and its security has to be increased.” Said Mr. Gunawan Liem, SIT Deputy Division Head of PT Mitsui Leasing.

By implementing ISO 27001, PT Mitsui Leasing Capital Indonesia wishes to always protect customers data and prevent the danger of any information breeches that may cause harm or any loss to the Company. In the future, this standard will be set as the foundation of the Company’s preparation for the Private Data Protection Law.
